Photoblog

Many of you know that I am addicted to the internet.  Concurrent with that addiction is an addiction to blogging and, separately, an addiction to taking pictures.  So, awhile back I decided to start a photoblog.  I haven't said anything yet 'cause I wasn't sure if it would stick or if I'd keep using it or whatever.  But, It has and i am so now I'm going to share.  The bigger reason I decided to share is that I got an amazing picture today.  It is the epitome of dumb luck.  There is, literally, zero skill involved, all pure chance and luck . . . . well, that and a great God who likes to impress me once in awhile.    The link I'm putting here is to an individual entry, you need to scroll to the very last picture to see the "dumb luck" shot I'm talking about.  Also, I'm including a link to my blog in the bloglist on this homepage.

I *Heart* My Points

I am a scrounge of the worst kind.  Meaning, if I can get something for free or cheap I will.  If I can get it from another person who does not see it's clear and obvious value, for free, then I will.  Needless to say, I'm also online trying to get free stuff all the time.  No, not just coupons or free mailings or whatever. I mean, honest to goodness, free REAL STUFF.  For example, my wonderful friend Arayna sent me a link to hook up to this MyPoints thing, which I did.  I signed up in spite of the fact that I don't actually spend much money on the internet.  I spent (at the time) way more money than I needed to but most of that was at Blockbuster or Mcdonalds.  But, I digress. So, I figured, she gets points if I sign up and maybe I can get something out of this deal eventually.  So, I've been on My Points for quite awhile now.  Last year I smelled Moonlight Path scented lotion from Bath & Body Works at a friends house.  Oh, my goodness, DIVINE!!!  So, I decided I needed to get me some of that.  So, I started looking at my online surveys and rewards things trying to find a way to get a gift certificate for Bath & Body Works so I could get me some of this divine lotion.  Well, I thought I had one place, only to go over and look at My Points and realize that I can get double the amount for half the effort, comparatively speaking.  Ummmm, okay, so I AM ALL OVER THAT!!!  So, I bulked up a few extra points and got myself $25, YEP $25 gift card to Bath and Body works and not only did I get that DIVINE lotion, I also got a shower gel and added a $2 antibacterial handsoap and a miniature shower gel for traveling.  It was WONDERFUL.  I have just realized that I never said anything about the loveliness that is MyPoints, and I figure better late than never.  ya know!  So, here goes

I LOVE    MYPOINTS!!!

You should go check them out too.  Actually what you should do is tell me that you want to know and I will refer you to them, that way you can help me the way I helped my friend and we're both happier!!!
And, just in case I wasn't clear enough.  They credit points to an account you have with them anytime you buy something from their "selected retailers" which are people you may be buying from already.  Then, as mentioned in passing above, you can redeem those points for honest to goodness, REAL STUFF!!  And, they send you e-mail offers to try things and get extra points and even if you don't want to try the things you can still get 5 points just for clicking a link, most of the time.  It's wonderful, just tell me the e-mail to send your invite to and I will happily send you a referral!!!

Wait a sec, I just went into the MyPoints site to look for a link to include in this post and realized that for a handful of points I can get a $10 Barnes & Noble Gift card to use with my $25 Christmas present, HELP ME OUT, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE   (please mentally insert 3 puppy-dog-eyes, pouting, sweet faced emoticons that don't exist on msn spaces here)    tee hee.

My Creativity, be gentle

So, about a month ago I wrote a poem one night.  Just something that was rattling around in my brain while I was trying, unsuccessfully, to sleep.  So, finally I turned on the light and wrote it down.  Due to a short-ish period of melancholy and aggravation with my single state, I decided it's time to "publish."  So, here goes . . . be gentle.

Maybe someday . . . . .

Maybe someday my prince will come

Maybe someday someone will

appreciate my complexities, idiosyncracies, oddities and weirdness

Maybe someday someone will

challenge me as much as I'm sure I will challenge him.

Maybe someday someone will

see a worthy prize of my heart.

Then again . . . . .

Maybe someday I'll realize my Prince is here already

Maybe someday I will

appreciate not having to explain all my complexities and oddities.

Maybe someday I will

rise to the Greatest Challenge I would ever face.

Maybe someday I will

be worthy to see the Prize in His eyes.

Maybe someday my prince will come . . .

and maybe someday I will come to my Prince.

Just what I wanted!!!

Well, I got just what I wanted for christmas. And, very happily, I should no loger be missing any church on Sundays anymore.  I went to our Carols by Candlelight service on Christmas Even and  Thankfully I had at least 3 people mention to me that they hadn't seen me and were wondering how I was doing etc.  That really touched my heart.  Generally speaking I feel pretty invisible.  So, to have more than one person notice that I had been gone really touched my heart.  You'll see below a picture of my favoritest Christmas present this year.  A new dual alarm clock so that i don't have to re-set and change it every week etc.  That has been the problem. But, it is now solved.

I have to note here though, mostly because I'm in a contemplative mood, what I am most thankful for.

  1. A family who loves me more than I could ever understand and are doing the best they can do in any given day.
  2. An extended family on one side who certainly seem to accept me for who I am and who's company I enjoy.
  3. A church family that sees me, appreciates me, and notices when I'm absent; more importantly, one who mentions to me that they've missed seeing me.
  4. Relative health.  So many people are sick this season and some with terminal and long-term illnesses.  I have the end of a chest cold and stomach problems that I could fix if I put my mind to it.
  5. More friends than I even realize or appreciate.  To the closest of these "Thank you,"  you know who you are.  You are the ones that help me hold "it" together on the days when I feel like I'm losing my mind.
  6. A roof over my head, more clothes that I need, WAY more food than I need, variety, cable, telephone, heat, gifts, excess, electricity, warmth of heart.  Things that the vast majority of this world will go without on a daily basis for the better part of their lives.  Things that many people will die for lack of.
  7. Intelligence, I understand, I can read and enjoy a variety of topics, I can discuss any number of things with a reasonable amount of knowledge, I can provide a life for myself without outside assistance and learn almost anything I should set my mind to.  Most of us don't realize what a blessing this really is.
  8. All of the little loveliness-es of my life.  Internet, this website, psychotically fast typing abilities, friends who laugh at my jokes, a job that I enjoy, VCR's, a Gazelle exercise machine, Down blankets, Chocolate . . .
  9. Oh, and freedom!  So much freedom.  Freedom to say essentially whatever I please in almost any form I please.  Freedom to destroy myself if I should choose.  Freedom to worship Jehovah God however I choose to do that without fear of incarceration or repercussion.  Freedom to love whomever I choose regardless of their parents, skin, background, family, faith, orientations, choices, lifestyle.

I hope that you consider all of the little lovelies of your life and Thank God for putting them into your life.  Thank you for reading and Here's to 2006 full of lovelies.

Mall Hunt

So, I joined my church youth group last night for their annual "Mall Hunt."  I call it a human scavenger hunt, but whatever you call it it's fun.  So, I posted the pics.  The point to the Hunt is for either adults or kids to dress up in order to hide in plain sight and then the alternate group comes in and tries to find the group that is trying to hide.  Whoever finds the most people gets free pizza and whoever gets found the least gets free pizza.  Unfortunately, last night we didn't get any pics of me.  At least, I didn't get any.  I went as a dirty, homeless kinda woman.  Oversize, grubby-ish clothes, a hat, and I mixed all my eyeshadows together to make my face look dirty.  Plus, I did actual shopping, so that helps in the hiding.  I got two Christmas presents for my godmother, a gift for my godfather AND a new robe for myself.  I may have to put up a pic of me modeling that.  It's WAY cute, it's pink with green girl frogs with big eyelashes.  So, that was my night last night and there are pics up.  Enjoy!!  And, if any of you reading this have pics of me or of last night that you want posted, just e-mail them to me and let me know and I'll get them up as soon as I can.  THANKS!!!
