17 November Theme SongFrom time to time I hear a song that makes me think "I want THAT to be my personal theme song." Generally not because the entire song applies, but because a few lines or even most of it seem pertinent at the time. Last night on my way home I heard this song and thought "That describes me surprisingly accurately." You can listen to it below if you'd like. Enjoy!
She can kill with a smile
She can wound with her eyes She can ruin your faith with her casual lies And she only reveals what she wants you to see She hides like a child, But she's always a woman to me She can lead you to love She can take you or leave you She can ask for the truth But she'll never believe And she'll take what you give her, as long as it's free Yeah, she steals like a thief But she's always a woman to me CHORUS: Oh--she takes care of herself She can wait if she wants She's ahead of her time Oh--and she never gives out And she never gives in She just changes her mind And she'll promise you more Than the Garden of Eden Then she'll carelessly cut you And laugh while you're bleedin' But she'll bring out the best And the worst you can be Blame it all on yourself Cause she's always a woman to me --Mhmm-- CHORUS: Oh--she takes care of herself She can wait if she wants She's ahead of her time Oh--and she never gives out And she never gives in She just changes her mind She is frequently kind And she's suddenly cruel She can do as she pleases She's nobody's fool And she can't be convicted She's earned her degree And the most she will do Is throw shadows at you But she's always a woman to me --Mhmm-- And, if you'd like to hear the song ...
Here it is ... combined with one of my favorite things ... LOST
15 April Lifest 2007 Artist lineupI have added a new list to my page. Right above this blog. Although lifest won't put up a schedule of which acts will be there on which days, you can usually figure it out by looking up the artist website and checking their tour dates. I did this for some of the artists coming. Honestly, I did it for the ones I want to see. I've got the listing as I know it up. I'm not even honestly sure I even will be going this year, but it's nice to know what the options are. If you want to add a artist date or are wondering about one, leave me a comment and I'll check it out and add it to the list. Here is a link to the lifest website and this is a link to their artist list. I thought about looking up links for all the bands/acts I like and decided that was WAY too much work for here. Unless you ask for it . . . then maybe I'll think about it. 3 April Tag, I'm itLori, of Superfantastic fame, tagged me for this meme. I know, 3 posts in one day, can you stand it??? The meme involves listing seven songs that you are into right now. I listen to a lot of radio and a lot of variety on the radio, so eclectic will be a word I use just like Lori did. The problem is that I know songs, I just can't remember what they're called half the time.
1. Mountain of God by Third Day - God and I had a great talk during this song at their concert in September. GREAT song. 2. Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol - I'll agree with Lori here too: "It's trendy and all, but how am I not going to like a song that advocates both wasting time and just laying here?" 3. Wherever We Are by newsboys - This is one of the single greatest car dancing rock out songs ever. EVER. 4. Crazy by Gnarles Barkley - although I haven't heard this in awhile, it ALWAYS makes me CRANK my radio as high as I can stand it. 5. Wholly Yours by David Crowder Band - they're fab. 'nuf said. 6. By His Wounds (?) with Mac Powell and a bunch of other guys. - There is just something about a whole group of fabulous male voices all singing in a perfect harmony. dc Talk did this a bit too. Almost gives me chills. 7. Born to Love by TobyMac - this one is like Crazy, it will always make me crank my radio. :sigh: Good, now I'm done. I got to 4 and kinda got stuck for a minute. That whole know the song but not what it's called or who sings it thing. And now, I tag all of you. You can post on your blog and leave the link in the comments or just put your answer in a comment. There are, as ever, no actual rules around here, so do seven, do more or less...whatever. Totally up to you. (I agree Lori, and I'm too lazy to try to rephrase something that should be obvious.) 24 November Music AddedI posted a few days ago about the Newsboys Album I ordered etc. I got it today!!! So, I listened to it on the way to work and realized that I HAD to share it with the world. It is only like the most amazing song ever!!! Then again I'm an otter, so it's even more appropriate. Anyway, I've added it, it may be changed at some point, but it will probably stay up as long as it's my current favorite.
On a side note, for those of you who hate music on websites (Yes, I'm talking to you K), if you hit <esc> as soon as it starts, I think that will stop the music. Otherwise, just scroll down to just below my profile picture and stop it in the media player. I did you a favor and made the media player visible so you could see whether or not you had stopped it.
I will concede this. If everyone hates having music here on the site, leave me a comment (with a name!) and I will remove it and make playlists instead or something. ONLY if like, everyone hates it. 16 November WOO HOO!!!!! Yeah Newsboys!!!OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I AM SO EXCITED RIGHT NOW I CAN HARDLY SIT STILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I HAD TO GET RIGHT ON HERE AND SHARE MY NEWEST HAPPIEST NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(can you tell i'm excited?)
I went to Lifest, a music festival, in July and saw the Newsboys! They had a credit-type card you could buy for $10 and order the new Newsboys CD that was released at the end of October. So, I went home and ordered it and promptly forgot about it. Newsboys came out with a new song a bit ago and I wondered when I would get my cd. Then it was November and I kept thinking that the CD released in October. Well, I'm a slacker and procrastinator so I never got around to looking into it. Somewhere I got some kind of message from the Newsboys and went looking for the release date of that CD. Yep, 10/31, I was right. Now, I subsequently went through my old e-mails looking for the confirmation from the Newsboys store that I had in fact ordered the cd. I found it and e-mailed Brandi about my dilemma. She must have looked into it and this is the response I got today:
These were all shipped over 3 weeks ago. It should have arrived in the mail by now. We will go ahead and consider it a lost parcel and reship a new one to you. Please accept the upgraded enhanced copy that is autographed by the band free of charge to make up for the delay that the USPS has caused.
WHAT?! I am not only getting an upgrade, but a SIGNED COPY!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!
I AM SO EXCITED RIGHT NOW I CAN HARDLY SIT STILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will also insert a note here that I am not exactly sure why I am SO excited, but maybe it's simply that amazing step-up to the microphone (ha ha pun!*) customer service she offered without hesitating or asking. I would have been happy just to know that I'm getting the CD, but for her to upgrade it like that!! Woo Hoo!!! Pun completely intended*.
*If you didn't know it, Newsboys has a song called, Woo Hoo. very amusing. They also have a CD called Step up to the Microphone. hee hee 8 December Todd Agnew Come Join us on Myspace.com!!!
And, he's cute and appears to be single . . . hmmmmm
Maybe we should start an e-mail campaign to get him to Wisconsin to meet me. 12 September Rebecca St. James, Alive Street TeamSo, I've joined the Rebecca St. James Street Team, which means I run around promoting her new album, If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something , which releases Nov 22. Yeah! Also, they need/want more people on the street team to promote the album. So, if you go to the link at the end here you can join me and tell people to listen, request, and maybe even buy her new album!! Join me!!! It'll be GREAT!!! (Can you tell I like Exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) If you want to check out more about her music and who she is, check out her website. You’re probably wondering just why we need more peeps on this street team. Well, here’s the thing. Bec's new album will be coming out at on November 22 and to really get the word out about it (and how amazing it is!) we need tons of people willing to hit the streets to talk about it. We have some really really great projects that I’m dying to tell you about, but I have to keep under wraps until it’s time! But trust me, you’re gonna love them. And for anyone that’s a real fan anyway, they’ll want to be the first to know, b/c yall will be the first to hear the new music, the first to see pics (including the cover, which is being worked on as we speak!), the first for everything Rebecca. So start telling everyone. And you can direct them to this website to sign up… www.AliveCrew.com 24 August SomebodySo, I have Launchcast radio on Yahoo at work. And today this song by Reba McIntire came on. It's called Somebody. It was good, very encouraging, made me smile. You can look at the album and listen to a sample here. You can also load it to play in Media player here. Or, you can just read the lyrics here:
Somebody (Dave Berg/Sam Tate/Annie Tate) At a diner down on Broadway they make small talk When she brings his eggs and fills his coffee cup He jokes about his love life And tells her he's 'bout ready to give up That's when she says,"I've been there before But keep on lookin' 'cause maybe who you're lookin' for is..." Somebody in the next car Somebody on the morning train Somebody in the coffee shop That you walk right by everyday Somebody that you look at But never really see Somewhere out there is somebody Across town in a crowded elevator He can't forget the things that waitress said He usually reads the paper But today he reads a strangers face instead It's that blue-eyed girl from two floors up Maybe she's the one maybe he could fall in love with Somebody in the next car Somebody on the morning train Somebody in the coffee shop That you walk right by everyday Somebody that you look at But never really see Somewhere out there is somebody Now they laugh about the moment that it happened A moment they'd both missed until that day When he saw his future in her eyes Instead of just another friendly face And he wonders why he searched so long When she was always there at that diner waiting on Somebody in the next car Somebody on the morning train Somebody in the coffee shop That you walk right on by everyday Somebody that you look at But never really see Somewhere out there is somebody |
